Our team has participated in more than $8.5 billion in residential developments for Hunt alone, and with the backing of Hunt and institutional partners, we have the team in place to deliver quality neighborhoods.
Jim Dobbie’s approach to creating a widely accepted institutional asset by developing single-family rental neighborhoods has spawned the Avanta philosophy – one that serves both investors and neighborhoods through foresight, planning, and attention to detail. Jim serves as President of Avanta, is an Executive Vice President for Hunt, and has more than 21 years of experience in commercial and multifamily real estate operating companies, partnerships, and development. Since joining Hunt in 2007, he has been responsible for more than $1.5 billion in transactions and development projects. Mr. Dobbie directs multiple housing development platforms and projects for the company’s national development platform. In addition, Mr. Dobbie was a senior executive for Hunt’s investment advisor and a member of its investment committee.
Peter Spier serves as a Managing Director of Avanta Residential, a Hunt Company, with a primary emphasis on investment and development strategy, deal-sourcing, and capital markets activities. His professional background includes more than 20 years of experience in the development, operation, and financing of multiple types of real estate, with deep knowledge of office, medical-office, and multifamily assets.
Mr. Spier’s responsibilities at Hunt include asset management of a national portfolio of 2,700 affordable housing units, development of a high-rise office building, and multiple market-rate multifamily projects.
Terence Johnson, Director of Development at Hunt, has more than 22 years of design and project management experience in multiple real estate sectors, and is especially skilled at providing design while reducing overall construction and maintenance costs. Mr. Johnson’s responsibilities with Hunt include renovation and new construction activities with a focus on architectural design, project management, tenant coordination, site selection analysis, leasehold review, building and construction standards development, capital budget review and preparation, contract administration, and legal reviews.
