Matthew has over 12 years of real estate experience, with over 10 of those years focused on developing luxury multifamily projects. Matthew was involved in the development of over 2,000 luxury rental units with a total market capitalization of approximately $700 million. Matthew earned a BBA in Finance from Southern Methodist University.
As Director of Development, Craig is responsible for site selection, feasibility, and market analysis in the Carolinas market. His background includes over 35 years of working in all aspects of residential construction, serving in executive or ownership roles. His focus has primarily been on single-family and townhome communities. He has extensive knowledge and experience in construction, operations, land acquisition, entitlements, and development.
As Director of Entitlements and Planning, Todd oversees multiple projects, providing design and guidance from project concept through construction completion. Todd has over 30 years of experience in real estate development, including zoning and land use entitlements, concept planning, and project development. His portfolio includes award-winning creative designs for large-scale master-planned communities, commercial/mixed-use, urban infill, resorts, and theme parks, involving complex entitlements. Todd taught as an adjunct professor at his alma mater, the University of Southern California. Since 2010 he has been on the board of directors for the Price School of Policy Planning and Development at the University of Southern California, helping develop the academic curriculum for graduate programs.
As Director of Development, Ken is responsible for site selection, feasibility, and market analysis in the Colorado market. Ken has over 20 years of experience in multifamily housing investment, development, and operations. Throughout his career, he was involved with developing more than $750 million of multifamily and mixed-use projects in Texas, Colorado, and California. Ken earned a Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Real Estate Urban Land Economics degrees from the University of University of Wisconsin – Madison.
As Director of Development, Paige is responsible for site selection, feasibility, and market analysis in the Texas market. Paige has worked in the new home industry for over 20 years, and her diverse experience includes land acquisition and development, market research and consulting, and land banking. Paige earned a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and serves as Chair of the Community Development National Product Council..
As Senior Vice President of Construction, Robert focuses primarily on structuring and negotiating contracts and administering and managing those contracts during the construction phase, all with an emphasis on controlling construction costs and minimizing and managing construction risk. Robert brings forty years of development and construction experience managing the development of projects with construction budgets up to $600 million. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Tyler and a Master of Business Administration degree from San Diego State University..
As Vice President of Acquisitions, Jose is responsible for underwriting potential investments, obtaining investor approvals, asset management, performance reporting, and data analytics. Jose previously worked with Hunt Development and was a member of Hunt Mortgage Group in the Agency Debt and Affordable Housing Debt groups, where he was responsible for sourcing, screening, and underwriting potential transactions. Jose earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Statistics (Cum Laude) from the University of South Florida in 2008 and a Master of Business Administration degree in Real Estate and Finance (with Distinction) in 2015 from DePaul University.
As Vice President of Finance and Accounting, Paul oversees financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, shareholder communications, and reporting. In addition, Paul and his team are responsible for managing financial risks, project and portfolio analysis, record keeping, and banking lines of credit. He has 20 years of accounting and finance experience in Private Equity, Real Estate, and Public Accounting. Previously, Paul led a private equity and institutional-funded developer’s finance, accounting, reporting, treasury, risk management, and property management functions. Paul holds a BBA in Accounting and a BBA in Finance from Abilene Christian University.
As Director of Capital Transactions, Penny oversees commercial real estate loan origination and underwriting. She has over 30 years of industry experience, including commercial property valuation and underwriting, loan document negotiation, purchase contract negotiation, and closing coordination. Penny has a Bachelor of Business Administration specializing in Banking and Finance from the University of Mississippi.
Mr. Spier previously served as Managing Director of Avanta and Senior Vice President of Hunt Companies, Inc. He has 20 years of experience developing, operating, and financing multiple types of real estate, with deep knowledge of multifamily assets. Mr. Spier’s tenure includes the asset management of a national portfolio of 2,700 affordable housing units, the development of a high-rise office building, and multiple market-rate multifamily projects.
Peter Spier earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Master of the Arts in Applied Economics from Southern Methodist University. He also received a Certificate in Construction Management from Arizona State University.
Bud Rogers (Atlanta, GA) serves as a Development Manager for the Southeast Region. Prior to working with Avanta, Bud was a Vice President for a developer and builder in Atlanta, GA where he was responsible for developing and executing internal and external business plans that increases revenues and profits via new home sales. Bud worked in the Southeast as a Director at Metrostudy; helping banks, developers and builders maximize real estate opportunities using Metrostudydata. He has also worked as a VP of Sales and Marketing, closing more than 500 annual sales. Bud has extensive experience with inside and outside level sales and sales management, budget management, sales training and recruiting, marketing management, e-marketing strategy, land development feasibility and market analysis, business development, and product development. Bud is a graduate of Ball State University’s College of Architecture and Urban Planning.
